In my conceptual body project, I tried to convey the transformation of a mental activity into a physical one. We were instructed to use and manipulate a concept or part of the body for our video piece. I think that a very common concept of a mental activity is our use of the idea of a "filter" on our thoughts. So, I began to imagine an actual filter or strainer in which my thoughts would be pushed through. The filter would act to prevent me from verbalizing my more inappropriate or more extreme thoughts. In my video, I use a small-holed filter (coffee filter) in the beginning, representing a person with a dense filter, that didn't let out much of their true emotions. The holes in the second filter were a bit larger, letting out more truthful feelings. The holes in the last filter barely changed the shape and size of the play doh, showing that the internal emotions barely changed as they left the mouth.
